It was not a good day at the office for Bellville City’s U/13B team. We faced one of the league’s best performing sides, Rygersdal.

 

It did not take our opponents long to slot in their first goal of the match. Not only did they dominate possession but also scored two successive goals in a blink of an eye.

 

They kept pushing and played hard and then scored another goal from a set piece. Our spirit was put to the test and our “fight till the end attitude” paid off with a goal before half time but the opponents slotted a few goals making the half time score 7-1 to Rygersdal.

We made a few tactical substitutions and they paid off with a goal at the beginning of the second half.

 

The team showed positivity and stability in the middle of the pitch. We played a more attacking game and luckily the opponents missed a few good chances.

 

Rygersdal managed to score 3 more goals in the half. They had a lot of opportunities in the second half but our improved defence prevented more goals.

 

Sadly, the game ended 10-2 to Rygersdal. It was a bitter pill to swallow but they were the better side on the day.
