On Saturday the 6th of May, Bellville City’s U7A boys were given the formidable task of going up against Vasco Da Gama.
From the onset it was clear that it would be a tough game as Vasco took an early lead in the first 3 mins of the first period when their left wing finished off a well-rounded move with a first time shot the cannoned into the back of the net.
Despite the shaky start from Bellville City, our boys found their rhythm and looked to claw their way back into the game. Chance after chance was created but our boys were just unable to finish their opportunities in front of goal, the complete opposite to Vasco who made their chances count.
Joshua managed to pull a goal back for Bellville City but by the end of the second period the score was 1-3 to Vasco.
In the final period the boys gave it their all and need to be commended for their never say die attitude and team camaraderie. It was however in vain as on three occasions Vasco countered Bellville City to extend their lead and run out eventual 1-6 winners.
A less than flattering score line but not a true reflection of the game or how competitive our boys were.
A big well done to the lads as despite the loss there was positives that will put this team in a good space going into the remaining fixtures for this season.
