On a crisp autumn Saturday morning, the young Bellville City U7A side took on Bothasig U7A’s at Abe Sher Stadium in Bothasig.
From the onset it looked like it was going to be an open game, with the majority of the early chances falling to the travelling Bellville City boy’s. However, true to the trend of the season thus far the boys were struggling to put away their chances in front of goal and saw themselves concede late in the first period from a finish not many keepers at the U7 level would’ve been able to stop. 1-0 down going into the first break.
The second period was more of the same, Bellville City looking the better team but not doing enough to trouble the young goal keeper of Bothasig. Late in the second period Bellville City conceded a penalty through a handball in the box and despite a rocket of a penalty been taken by Bothasig, it was well off target and the score remained 1-0.
Going into the final period the Bellville City boys were tired and it showed in their game play for as much as they tried to score and get back into the game, they were equally caught wanting at the back and Bothasig were breaking too easily. Unfortunately Bothasig scored one last goal as the game finished 2-0.
Despite the team being winless so far this season the boys cannot be faulted on their commitment, continuous fighting spirit being shown and the fun that’s been had on the pitch. Watch this space, a win is around the corner!
