1st Team Reserves 28th Apr 2017
For the first 15 minutes of the game, the team sustained pressure as the home pressed heavily for the opening goal.
However, the team defended competently and executed good counter-attacks that frustrated the opposition. One of those counter-attacks resulted in a free-kick just outside the box.
From that free-kick, Johnathan Carter struck a powerful shot which deflected into the goal off an opponent.
Once again the opposition pressed but struggled to find any clear-cut openings.
Unfortunately in the final 3 minutes of the half SRFC had a corner, which while after an aerial challenge, the ball fell kindly to one of their players who’s powerful shot gave them a goal.
Halftime: Bellville City 1-1 Saxon Rovers
From the onset of the 2nd half the team enjoyed a period of dominance for approximately 15 minutes. This resulted in a cross from the right side into the box, which was well finished off by Clyde Saal (Left Back). The team grew with confidence and played some good football.
At the 65 minute mark, some players started to tire and without substitutes we were unable to revitalise the team. This meant that the opponents started to dominated proceedings. From a free-kick just (outside the box) the opponents scored via a deflection off the wall.
SRFC then had majority of the play before were brillantly kept out by the team ( tired legs and all).
Full time: Bellville City 2-2 Saxon Rovers
