The last game of the season saw us travelling to Vasco FC. The reverse fixture was a tough one where our boys were on the receiving end of a 1-5 loss at home. But that was a long a time ago and since then the boys have grown in confidence and familiarity of playing with one another.
The task however was never going to be easy and, with that in mind, the boys lined up playing with a strong win at their back. As the first period kicked off, the Vasco boys were on the front foot from the get go, but Kai in goals was commanding his area and ensured that Vasco would not have it all their way. We had a chance to go ahead, but it was not converted as Connor just couldn’t get to the end ball from a well worked move by Booth and Tyler.
Vasco however would end the half the strongest with two quick goals before the first period ended.
The second period looked more of the same in Vascos favour, however the boys on the park for Bellville – Kyle, Kieran, Austin, Booth and Josh in goals, were defending well and going in a lot stronger into the challenges than the boys in the first period. Although Vasco spent most of the period in our half, we looked a lot more resilient.
Second period ending with the score at 3-0.
The Third period would be a lot more even, with the performance of the boys in the second period inspiring our lads to take the fight to Vasco in the last 10 mins. Connor, Tyler and Kai created a few good chances and nearly scored on a couple of occasions. With Kieran taking his strong performance from the second period into the last and dominating in defence.
The game would end 3-0 and with the boys being able to hold their heads up high.
As the season comes to an end there has been plenty of positives, the most important being that the boys had a jol on the field, every single week! A big thanks to the coaching staff, management and parents of the boys! Your commitment has been critical to the success of the season! Onward and upwards!
