So, for the first time this season, we started on the back foot.
Edgemead started really well and pressed and contested from every ball. We were found defending early on in our own half for most of the first 10min. We eventually settled, but it was all Edgemead and we had to play on the counter.
We did get our break and Connor Lobb latched onto a through ball and toed it past the keeper to put Bellville 1-0 up. Our lead did not last for long and shortly after going behind, Edgemead equalised with good finish into the top corner leaving our keeper Kai, with no chance. So the first period ended 1-1.
The second period started a bit more evenly but Edgemead pushed hard and were rewarded for their efforts as they went into the lead 2-1. The Edgemead keeper handled a ball outside the area which gave Bellville a chance from a freekick to equalise, but was well defended by Edgemead. Again Edgemead pressed with a long ball and they scored their third, 3-1.
The third period got off to a similar start, as corners were plentiful on both sides. Edgemead had a kick in and sent a long ball over the Bellville defense to allow their strikers to pick up the loose ball and score their fourth, 4-1. Another succession of defensive corners for Bellville and unfortunately one ricocheted off Kyle, who was defending like a champion, for an own goal. 5-1 it ended.
