Bellville started nervously, as it was a first ever football game for a few, of our players. Sunningdale pressed but we held our shape, tackled aggresively and cleared our lines. We started getting into the match with a few great counter attacks, and one counter lead to a foul on the edge of the opponents box and a freekick for Bellville.

 

Johan Janse Van Rensburg struck a beautiful direct freekick, to give Bellville the lead. Bellville held out only to concede just before halftime, due to a lack of concentration in defence and pressure from Sunningdale. 

 

The second half kicked off in the same fashion as the first. Bellville snuck another goal on the counter with the nuggety Ethan Heynes putting on the pressure, and Minke Van Niekerk finishing. Bellville held out despite Sunningdale pressing relentlessly for an equalizer. Kaydon Merrington was outstanding in goal. Match was played in great spirit.
