Our season opener started off a little easier than expected as Northpine gave us all three points after not being able to field a side due to the lack of playing cards.

The match ended up being a friendly in the end and a much-needed one, as the result didn’t go the Beefcakes favour – going down 1-0 on the day.

Playing in the exceptionally warm weather conditions, there were patches of great football, but the lack of team cohesion, fitness and composure in front of goals let us down in the end. After a numerous amount of missed chances, Northpine hit us on the counter with a long ball down the middle, which unleashed their striker to have a clear one on one with Dimitri. 

Dimitri managed to make the initial save, but sadly the rebound bounced straight to the second attacker who was following up and he netted home the winner.

The result, which didn’t matter in the end, was a little disappointing, but there can be no complaints has we had our fair amount of chances in the end.
