We had a good build up to the match and it showed as we switched back to a 4-5-1 formation that resulted in most of the match being dominated by us. Besides a few long range efforts our keeper was untroubled largely.
We also remedied our defensive frailties against setpieces with aplomb. We spurned a few golden oppurtunities at the opposite end though and could count ourselves unlucky not to lead by one or two goals by half time.
Edgemead grew increasingly uneasy with the realtive ease we repelled their attacks and threatened on the counter. Quite a few late tackles and yellow cards were issued as we kept our cool when taking all these fouls. 10 minutes before the end of the match a ricochet from a corner fell kindly to them and their player poked it in.
We adjusted by going to 3-5-2 and some close encounters just did not pay off and we had to face an undeserved 1-0 loss.
Everyone played well, with especially Chris Stemmet at left back for the first time doing outstanding work but my Man of the Match award goes to our right back, Arthur Limbada, for a flawless game on attack and defense.
This coming weekend we have an opportunity to set the record straight when we face them again in the League.
