1st Team Reserves 15th May 2017
The match was the first round of the knockout cup competition.
After an early period of pressure from the opposition, the team settled down and began to play some really good football. The team dominated the game from this point but unfortunately were not clinical enough in front of goal.
As a result numerous attempts and chances were not taken. Then, after 25 minutes, due to some sloppy defending we did not decisively deal with a counter-attack and conceded a goal.
This unsettled the team for a while but they quickly re-established their dominance and equalised through a shot from open play from Kerwin Africa. His first goal came from his first game.
The team maintained their hold on the game but could no score another goal.
Half-time: Bellville City FC 1 Fish Hoek FC 1
When the 2nd half started, the team renewed their commitment to take the game to the opposition and this resulted in the team regaining its ascendency.
Unfortunately, once again we conceded through poor defensive/goalkeeping work and 2 goals were scored by the opposition. This did dampen the team’s spirits and it took a while before they regrouped.
With renewed vigour we once again pushed forward and at the 70 minute mark, more good play resulted in Ayden Jacobs receiving a through ball into the box which he finished well.
With their energies now up, the team pushed hard for the equaliser but were unable to get it.
Full-time: Bellville City FC 2 Fish Hoek FC 3
