Our first home game of the season, the 1st reserve team consisted of a mixture of players from other Bellville City FC teams. In this case it was a majority of 6th Division players.

 

Yet again, the players showed great passion in playing for BCFC and truly gave their all. The initial phase of the match saw BCFC a little disorganised as most had not practiced together, let alone played a match together. This unfortunately lead to BCFC falling behind to a goal inside 10 minutes.

 

Undeterred they fought on and a swift counter attack saw the team equalise. Thereafter saw a period of dominance by NFC whereby they were able to score 2 goals.

In the 2nd half, BCFC showed greater resolve and composure on the ball and turned the tide of the game by being able to score goals at 10 minute intervals. First to reduce the deficit, then to equalise and finally to take the lead. With 10 minutes left and suffering in the heat, the held their opponents until a penalty was conceded in the final minute.

 

That successful penalty ,virtually the final kick of the match, resulted in a drawn match.

Besides the collective effort of each player, one individual stood out: Johnathan Carter – who scored a hat-trick.
