1st Team Reserves 3rd Apr 2017
Sadly, the result was a 5-0 loss.
A lack of preferred individuals, because of insufficient SAFA CT registered players, resulted in the reserve side comprising a number of players from other teams. This afforded the vast majority of these players their first taste of Premier reserve football.
While some were clearly nervous, they all acquitted themselves admirably and to the best of their ability. Unfortunately, the higher level of football exposed the need to minimise individual errors as they are ruthlessly exploited by the opposition.
While overall not being able to dominate possession or territory, the team showed patches of good movement and passing ability which displayed their talents. The players also showed great commitment, to their team-mates and the club, by fighting through some knocks, bruises and injuries during the game. This level of commitment was appreciated by the technical staff.
Hopefully this experience will stand the players in good stead throughout the rest of the season. Any defeat results in valuable lessons learned.
It also exposed the level of football required to be competitive at this level. A challenge BCFC players will accept.
Yours in football
