Dear MembersÂ
Yet another FANTASTIC year behind us at this great club!
I need to compliment our very capable and extremely friendly committee for a challenging year. They have all gone above & beyond serving the community and ensuring things worked smoothly. It might not always seem this way but each one always had the club at heart and at the same time dealing with own personal duties (home & work) and stresses. Something that is not always seen by our members or public.
To my Committee, you have all made this journey easier and a pleasure for me and this is over the 3 years the bulk of us have served together at the club.
I have done the bulk of my thank you’s at the 3 awards – so just to recap, what an amazing group of coaches, managers & team admins we have had this year. We really can’t thank you enough.
I think we need to refocus and relook at structures going forward at the club. Our senior players and coaches need to have more of a community mindset and allow for growth. Rather than be isolated teams we found ourselves having. And in such creating less friendships and less player movement within the club.
We have a FANTASTIC community mindset in the mini division and likewise in the juniors. So it needs to move up and over into the senior ranks.
We performed very well in the senior divisions but club loyalty, involvement and mindset is something that has made me reconsider my involvement after 25 years at BCFC. And serving on our committee for 23 of these years.
Our mini and juniors have all been awesome in grasping the educational side of football rather than Win at all Cost. Our aim should always be to help a kid develop and learn aspects of football rather than just learning to only try and WIN!
Life Skill – this is so important in coaching and we see this being implemented more and more – keep this up please as it is part of development.
Again we stood firm with discipline. For any club or work place one needs discipline to succeed.
This was recognised on Saturday past by Cape Town Tygerberg Football Association presenting our club with the Fair Play Club Award at their annual awards evening.
This is an honour and something I am extremely proud of. So we are needing to thank each and every members who contributed towards this – THANK YOU.
As you are aware we have 8 out of the 10 committee members stepping down. It has not been easy for them to do so. But all have reasons for this and can be proud to be stepping down after 3 great years of outstanding community service.
I will still be around as a Life Member, Coach, BLUE Zone Coordinator and District Representative. But I am not available to be involved in the day to day running of the club. It is time for new energies and new faces to lead this great club forward.
To the incoming committee I wish you and the team everything of the best and trust you are all the new portfolios to keep BCFC going into the future. Make the right calls for the benefit of the members and be firm and strong in your beliefs.
To Tracey Snare – I really thank you for ensuring we kept a healthy financial record. And ensured, as we all agreed, a few years back to pass over the same amount to the incoming committee as we had received.
To Ashley, Ambrose (& Leonard) – thank you for taking on these new roles within the club and finding the purpose for these new function to be the future.
To the new committee members – please ensure we look after our finances and spend to enjoy football growth within the club. Subscriptions need to increase next year as we are spending more on electricity and field maintenance.
Andrew Goodrich and the committee have worked hard on ensuring sponsorships have been in place. Andrew has Lead Home on board until they feel they are not wanting to contribute further. Let’s keep building on this as a club, please !
Again, I thank you all and will see you all in 2020. You can still keep greeting in the same old manner by just raising your hand in passing.
Yours in Sport,
Sean Smit
Club Chairman
