Chairman Updates 22nd Jan 2018
As all our members, parents and supporters are aware, the serious drought that we find ourselves amidst and the associated water crisis and imminent consequences thereof is having / will have a profound effect on all our lives – personally and professionally.
With consideration to the current state of the playing fields and training facilities at Bellville City FC, we have been constantly liaising with the City of Cape Town, local council, CTTFA and the various PP Smits sporting codes.
As a result, we have already sunk and successfully installed a borehole at the club, with water flowing into a number of large JoJo tanks enabling some initial irrigation to parts of the fields. This will continue to be improved upon with support of local council.
However, the state of the playing surfaces remain a concern – both from a playing and a player safety perspective.
As it stands, there is a CTTFA meeting scheduled for the mid-February whereby all CTTFA clubs have been asked to provide input, feedback and alternate solutions to enable the 2018 season to progress in some form. This will be done in conjunction and consultation with SAFA and the City of Cape Town.
Until such time as there has been a decision made, we, as a committee, have decided to defer registrations and pre-season training for the upcoming 2018 season. We will continue to monitor the situation closely alongside CTTFA and update our members with any new information as and when available.
Please keep a close eye on the Bellville City FC website for further updates/information – www.bellvillecityfc.co.za
We trust everyone understands and appreciates the situation we are currently faced with, and supports the club and the committee accordingly.
Yours in Sport.
