The History of Bellville City FC

Established in 1954, Bellville City Football Club (formerly known as Bellville AFC) has an exemplary heritage and is a proud amateur community-based club in the Bellville area.

Situated just off Durban Road at the PP Smit Sports Grounds, the club promotes family inclusion and participation, and caters for all age groups – having representation in and across the various Mini (foundational), Junior and Senior district leagues.

Being part of the Cape Town Tygerberg Football Association, the club boasts a membership anticipated to be well in excess of 450 active members for the 2017 season, from across all demographic groups of our country.

For the upcoming season, the club expects to field the following teams:

  • 21 Junior teams, ranging from U/7 to U/18 age groups – U/7 to U/11 Foundation Phase Structures and U/12 to U/18 Juniors
  • 8 Senior Men’s teams, including the clubs 1st Team being amongst the elite and playing in the CTTFA Premier League
  • A Senior Ladies Team

Bellville City is managed by a focused and dedicated elected Committee, all of whom are striving, in the interests of the club, our footballing family and players, to maintain and enhance a strong family culture and improve the values and services we provide to the football players and the Bellville community at large.

The club further prides itself in maintaining a philosophy of growing the club from the “grass root” levels, i.e. training and developing our junior and youth players and recognising potential through enabling and giving them opportunity to obtain senior football exposure and experience. This is largely driven via a well-structured and dedicated team of coaches and development strategy.

Our community-based focus also enables us to be proud of the fact that we retain very low subscription fees in comparison to neighbouring clubs, in order to make the club and sport more accessible to all within the community.
